Judy Chong received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Pharmacy in 1980. After graduation, she joined St Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, where she held various staff, practice leader, and management positions. She is currently the Director, Pharmaceutical Services, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario.

Judy is an active member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP), with contributions at both the Branch and National levels. At the Branch level, she served on the Education Committee (1990–2003) and chaired the Professional Specialty Groups (1990–1993) and the Membership Committee (1993–1999). She also served as Presidential Officer (1999–2002). She is currently the Branch liaison representative on the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada Safe Medication Support Service Advisory Group with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (2003 to present). At the National level, she chaired the Educational Services Committee from 2003 to 2006 and continues to contribute as a member of this committee. She has been involved in CSHP 2015 as a member of the Steering Committee (2009 to present) and as facilitator for one of the toolkit working groups (2010 to present). She is also a reviewer for the CSHP Awards Program and for the Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy .

Judy has interests in pharmacy education, safe medication practices, and leadership in pharmacy practice. She is an active member of the Regional Pharmacy Leaders and the Association of Pharmacy Managers of Toronto and Area Hospitals groups. She has also held positions on HealthPRO and Carecor committees.

Always looking for ways to improve hospital pharmacy services, she has worked collaboratively with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, the Ontario Branch of CSHP, and the pharmacy technician programs at Humber College and Georgian College to develop standards of practice for regulated pharmacy technicians. She has led the Pharmacy Transformation Project in the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network to provide improved and more efficient pharmacy services for the area. She also advocates for the use of technology to improve safety for both patients and health care providers.
